Tea lovers around the world are divided when it comes to choosing their favorites but a more awar community of them are united in recognizing green tea as the medium for health and fitness.Both green and black tea leaves are same originally and picked up from the same plant, Camellia Sinensis,but they become different due to different processing afterwards.Black Tea involves additional processing which results in relatively lower levels of catechines but higher levels of flavonoid contents,Where as,Green tea undergoes minimal processing and thus can retain high percentage of its health ingradient (around 80-90% of catechines ) and very little flavor (only 10% of flavonols ).

 For centuries,drinking of green tea has been considered as a preventive measure to stay fit and keep many    ailments and diseases at bay. Rich with antioxidants this super drink has many health benefits,which includes stress reducing, lowering cancer risk, disease management and weight management. I have short listed some of the most remarkable benefits of green tea as given below.
1.    Helps maintain proper body weight                
      Green tea contains high amount of polyphenols, which helps in faster oxidation 
of fat and increase in metabolism. Higher rate of metabolism results in higher rate of conversion of food intakes into basic building components of our body, and lesser amount fat in the tummy. This reduces extra body weight.
               Green tea is appetite suppressor. 
Drinking green tea will make you feel like eating less. This additionally reduces one’s calorie intake and naturally helps lose weight. It is a good practice to drink green tea in place of coffee, soda, and energy drinks. This will on one hand lower calorie intakes and on the other hand provide energy one needs through out the day.

       Cancer is one deadly killer disease that creeps in silently, often detected at a later stage. The main cause of cancer is due to uncontrolled cell growth in the body. Oxidation in the body is a major threat that develops the chance of cancer. Green tea with its rich content of antioxidants helps in lowering the risks of different types of cancers like breast cancer, colorectal cancer, esophageal cancer and prostate cancer. It is important to note that  green tea must not be consumed with milk because addition of milk lowers the antioxidant value of the drink.

      Research studies made over a period of time involving large number of participants observed that those who drank five or more cups of green tea per day had significantly lowered risk of developing cardiovascular diseases than those who consumed one or no cup of green tea per day. Catechins and polyphenolic compounds exist in green tea in abundance have numerous protective effect particularly on the cardiovascular system.     
4.    Lower risk of diabetes
       Although not established, some researchers opine that green tea has a positive effect in reducing the risk of developing type2 diabetes. Green tea helps regulate the glucose level in the body, decreases sugar level in blood after eating and increases insulin sensitivity. This can help prevent spikes of insulin. Too much insulin promotes fat storage, so green tea helps prevent the fat from forming.
5.    Improves brain functions And makes you smarter
      A balanced amount of caffeine in green tea acts a stimulant or energizer. Caffeine is also responsible for    improved mood, vigilance, reaction time and memory. Green tea also contains amino acid L-theanine which increases the activity of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA and results in anti-anxiety effects. It is also found to increase dopamine and produce alpha waves in brain.
6.    Improves dental health and lowers risk of infection
       Some studies show that the main harmful bacteria Streptococcus mutans responsible for plaque formation and growth of cavity and tooth decay, are greatly combatted by catechins in green tea. It also is very effective to reduce bad breath. 
Studies also suggest that catechins kill bacteria and prevents infection from Influenza viruses.

General death: 23% lower in women, 12% lower in men.
Heart fail: 31% lower in women, 22% lower in men.
Death from stroke: 42% lower in women, 35% lower in men
